In the afternoon, visit Mariam Berakit Church, situated in the smooth, rolling terrain of Enticho sandstone. The church is notable for its unique entrance and serene setting. Overnight in Hawzien.
After breakfast, drive to Mekele via Wukro, stopping to explore two remarkable churches along the way. The Abreha & Atsbeha Church, dedicated to the Axumite kings who introduced Christianity to Ethiopia in the 4th century, is one of the largest and most beautifully decorated rock-hewn churches. Overlooking a valley, its striking façade and vibrant mural paintings of biblical scenes are truly awe-inspiring. Continue to Wukro Cherkos Church, a semi-monolithic structure known for its elegant architecture, arched ceilings, and carved quartz sandstone pillars.
After lunch in Mekele, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa.
